National Conference for Heads of Physical Education 2025

Event Details

Physical Education faces challenges in schools of all types. Recent political initiatives have implications for the way in which the subject is led, managed and delivered. Alongside this, there are ongoing national campaigns to improve levels of both adolescent and adult physical activity, none of which enjoys spectacular success. Every time a national sports team is unsuccessful, this failure is often traced back to the role of Physical Education. With schools under constant pressure to deliver results in examination courses in PE, a range of apparently conflicting priorities emerges, which present a dilemma to those in charge of the subject.

This year’s Conference presents an opportunity for Heads of PE to consider all of these issues, and emerge with a modern plan for taking the subject forward in their own, unique environment. The morning will enable an update on trends in the subject, and the implications for PE of the recent DfE review of Curriculum and Assessment. The challenges for a modern PE programme will form the basis for structured discussion and sharing of best practice.

The afternoon presents a choice of sessions, enabling delegates to delve more deeply into those which are especially relevant to their schools.
